SUMMARY:Scotch Broom Removal at Oregon Dunes Day Use Area – Saturday\, March 22
DESCRIPTION:Volunteers are needed to help the Oregon Dunes Restoration Collaborative remove Scotch broom at the Oregon Dunes Day Use Area on Saturday\, March 22 from 10AM to Noon. We are hoping for better weather this Saturday after last Saturday’s cancellation due to stormy conditions! The Day Use Area is mid-way between Reedsport and Florence. It is a short walk to the work site. You can go to the beach after the event\, but it is a rather steep hike back up. Children and grandchildren are invited\, this is a family-friendly event! \nBring closed-toe shoes\, work gloves\, water\, and snacks. Please bring shovels\, hand saws\, or loppers if you have them. If you don’t\, ODRC will have tools you can borrow. Dress for the weather\, bring rain gear if showers are predicted. If a storm is predicted\, we may cancel. Check our Facebook page\, Save Oregon Dunes\, the morning of the event if the weather is questionable. \nDirections: \nFrom Florence\, OR take Highway 101 south 11.4 miles. Look for the Oregon Dunes Day Use Area sign. Turn right (west) into the parking area. \nFrom Reedsport\, OR take Highway 101 north 11.5 miles. Look for the Oregon Dunes Day Use Area sign. Turn left (west) into the parking area. \nParking: Go past the individual parking spaces next to the side walk\, and park in the parking area for larger vehicles. Day use fees are waived for volunteers at this event. \nThe Oregon Dunes Restoration Collaborative works to collaboratively support\, guide and promote Oregon dunes restoration and the preservation of the open sand habitat that benefits the plants\, animals and people who live and play in this special place.

SUMMARY:Mindful Drawing Group
DESCRIPTION:This is a monthly gathering for our Studio creative community to appreciate\, practice\, and explore approaches/techniques in meditative drawing such as Zentangling\, drawing from observation\, “slow” drawing\, Neurographic arts\, and more. Each session\, we will practice our drawing skills together in a supportive and relaxed environment. Also open to members of the public; beginners welcome! \nLed by a creative arts professional\, at each session\, we will explore a new design\, drawing technique or meditative drawing style. Each assignment will be guaranteed to help you get in the “flow”\, and will help you build new perspectives and skills. If you like\, you can also use the time to work on a meditative drawing project of your own\, share with the group\, trade tips and tricks\, and get technical guidance and support from one another and the group leader. \nYou’re welcome to bring your own drawing supplies and reference material to practice with; We will have extra tools and materials on hand as needed. \nDrawing supplies may also be purchased in advance from Beaux Arts art supply store in Florence\, located just off Hwy. 101 in the Coastal Fitness shopping plaza. \nYou may pre-register for this event\, or pay at the desk at time of session. Kids 6-12 can attend for half price!

You are invited to join the Siuslaw Watershed Council and Patricia Lansing for an engaging afternoon of discovery as we connect to spring’s rising energies through herbalism\, ancient wisdom and meditation.\nThe Siuslaw Watershed Council and Patricia Lansing have been collaborating for a few years in the harvesting and planting of her wetland property at LansingCroft. Patricia is a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist who will bring her expertise and enthusiasm to this event. SWC staff will guide attendees in native plant identification and forest bathing techniques.
