SUMMARY:Scotch Broom Removal at North Bay Elementary School – Saturday\, May 24
DESCRIPTION:North Bay Elementary School in Hauser\, OR in association with the Coos Watershed Association is hosting a Scotch broom removal event on their school grounds\, Saturday\, May 24th from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Sign-in is at 9:45 AM. Oregon Dunes Restoration Collaborative has been invited to assist with this event and we hope you will come join us. \nThe highly invasive and flammable Scotch broom is encroaching on the school’s forest and nearby areas\, outcompeting native plants and threatening the local ecosystem. North Bend Elementary is inviting all of us to participate in a community-wide effort to remove the Scotch broom and prevent the further spread of the invasive species. \nAll ages and abilities are welcome and no experience is necessary. Wear comfortable clothes\, gloves\, and sturdy shoes. Bring a water bottle\, snacks\, and sunscreen. Bring hand saws\, loppers\, or shovels if you have them. If not\, ODRC and the school will have some tools for you to borrow. \nNorth Bay Elementary School is located at 93670 Viking Lane\, north of Hauser\, OR. It is roughly 15 minutes north of North Bend\, OR and roughly 20 minutes south of Reedsport\, OR. \nDirections from North Bend\, OR: Take Highway 101 North\, approximately 6.5 miles\, turn right onto Wildwood Drive and then an immediate left to stay on Wildwood Drive and go 0.3 miles\, turn right onto Viking Lane and go 0.2 miles\, the school will be on your right. \nDirections from Reedsport\, OR: Take Highway 101 South\, approximately 17 miles\, turn left onto Wildwood Drive and then an immediate left to stay on Wildwood Drive and go 0.3 miles\, turn right onto Viking Lane and go 0.2 miles\, the school will be on your right. \nDirections from Florence\, OR: Take Highway 101 South\, approximately 33 miles\, turn left onto Wildwood Drive and then an immediate left to stay on Wildwood Drive and go 0.3 miles\, turn right onto Viking Lane and go 0.2 miles\, the school will be on your right.

SUMMARY:RAKU at the School!
DESCRIPTION:2 firings per day. 1st firing will happen at 10:30am – 2nd firing at 2pm \nRegistration of $30 includes one pot already made that you glaze yourself! See the pot loaded in a raku kiln\, fired and then pulled out while glowing hot! Pots are thrown by Emily Free Wilson and ready for you to paint or fire with horse hair. It takes about 2 hours for pieces to be fired and then cool. First firing is at 11:30 and second firing is at 2pm. (arrive an hour or so earlier than your preferred firing for time to glaze) If more than 24 spots sell\, an email will be sent asking those first registered to let us know their preferred time slot. \nNo experience necessary-all ages welcome.

SUMMARY:Mindful Drawing Group
DESCRIPTION:This is a monthly gathering for our Studio creative community to appreciate\, practice\, and explore approaches/techniques in meditative drawing such as Zentangling\, drawing from observation\, “slow” drawing\, Neurographic arts\, and more. Each session\, we will practice our drawing skills together in a supportive and relaxed environment. Also open to members of the public; beginners welcome! \nLed by a creative arts professional\, at each session\, we will explore a new design\, drawing technique or meditative drawing style. Each assignment will be guaranteed to help you get in the “flow”\, and will help you build new perspectives and skills. If you like\, you can also use the time to work on a meditative drawing project of your own\, share with the group\, trade tips and tricks\, and get technical guidance and support from one another and the group leader. \nYou’re welcome to bring your own drawing supplies and reference material to practice with; We will have extra tools and materials on hand as needed. \nDrawing supplies may also be purchased in advance from Beaux Arts art supply store in Florence\, located just off Hwy. 101 in the Coastal Fitness shopping plaza. \nYou may pre-register for this event\, or pay at the desk at time of session. Kids 6-12 can attend for half price!
