DESCRIPTION:You’re Invited to Experience “Odd-umn” at the FEC Galleries\n\nFlorence\, Oregon Coast – Florence Arts\, Culture & Entertainment (FACE) Gallery Committee invites the community to its annual fall exhibit\, “Odd-umn\,” on display from October 7 – November 25\, 2025 at the Florence Events Center.\n\nThis show theme\, Odd-umn—a playful combination of “Odd” and “Autumn ”— celebrates the creative possibilities of the season. Expect works inspired by crisp fall colors\, harvest bounty\, and the spooky delights of scarecrows\, goblins\, and “The Great Pumpkin.”\nArtists embrace the theme in a wide range of styles\, from whimsical and lighthearted to eerie and thought-provoking. The show features both 2D works (including photography) and 3D creations.\n\nParticipating artists: Chantelle Meyer\, Pat Briggs\, Alan Huck\, Jerry Schneider\, Vesta Steinfield\, Tamarah Phillips\, Cleo Goss\, Joshua Smith\, Brandt Legg\, Teakki Legg\, Karen M Burke\, Lara Magruder\, Bobbie Soshnick\, Harriet Greene\, David Stockton\, Melissa Davis\, Jo Beaudreau\, Jil Jensen\, Marijo Vollmar\, Jo Guzman\, and Kassy Keppol.\nArtwork is priced to fit all budgets\, making Odd-umn the perfect opportunity to collect original pieces while supporting local talent. The exhibit is open to the public during FEC operating hours. DESCRIPTION:Free event offers workshops\, talks and one-on-one discussions and free hot dogs \nDon’t be scared of natural disasters – get prepared at the West Lane Emergency Operations Group’s “Beat the Wave” 2025 Emergency Preparedness Expo on Saturday\, Oct. 11.  \nSpeak directly with emergency service personnel\, see “disaster cooking” demos\, take a workshop to learn lifesaving skills\, hear from experts from fun and informative speakers\, and enjoy a free hot dog lunch.   \nAdmission is free for the event\, which is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Florence Events Center\, located at 715 Quince St.\nDo you know how to get to safe ground during a tsunami? Where should you evacuate during a nearby forest fire? How do you prepare for an unexpected emergency at your home? How would you help a loved one with a serious injury? What type of emergency materials do you need in case of evacuation?  \nGet your questions answered from a host of professionals in the all-day booth area\, with experts in the field helping you prepare to face a crisis with confidence. Special seminars include “Texas 4th of July Flash Floods – Lessons Learned for the Oregon Coast”\, Stop the Bleed course\, and Water Purification course throughout the day.  \nSpeak directly with the emergency personnel who will be helping you through a Siuslaw emergency\, with organizations including the City of Florence\, the U.S. Coast Guard\, Oregon Office of Resilience Emergency Management. \nDo you have a food plan during a disaster? Join a variety of expert homecooks throughout the region as they cook a variety of meals in an all-day “disaster cooking” demonstration. From cooking without heat and water to using portable stoves\, the chefs will focus on non-perishable ingredients in their culinary creations.  \nAnd from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.\, enjoy a free hot dog lunch provided by the Rotary Club of Florence\, while supplies last.\n“Beat the Wave” is sponsored by the City of Florence and Three Rivers Casino to connect residents on the Oregon Coast with businesses and emergency service providers to raise awareness about disaster preparedness.

People are invited to visit the Florence Events Center\, 715 Quince St.\, from 11 am to 2 pm\, to learn about walking opportunities in Florence. \nThen\, members of the Florence committees will lead guided tours of the Siuslaw Estuary Trail and Florence public art at 11:15 am\, 12:15 pm\, and 1:15 pm.
