SUMMARY:Workshop: Using the iNaturalist Website for Exploration and Education
DESCRIPTION:Location: Siuslaw Public Library\, Conference Room\, 1460 9th St\, Florence \nDate: Wednesday\, Sept. 30\, 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM \nEvent Organizer: Siuslaw Area Naturalist Association\, Rob Cuthrell \n  \niNaturalist is a citizen science platform that makes it possible for anyone to collect observations of plants\, animals\, or other organisms by posting pictures through the iNaturalist smartphone app or website. Other iNaturalist users help to identify the organisms\, and then those observations can contribute to scientific research and education. The observations also become part of a global database of biological information that can be accessed by anyone. \nIn this interactive workshop\, participants will learn about how the iNaturalist website can be used to explore what is living in the natural world around us and to learn about the biology and ecology of particular species. We will also cover posting and editing observations. Participants are encouraged to bring their laptops / tablets\, and will go through using the different tools on the website together (it is also fine to attend without bringing a laptop). \nThere will be an eight person capacity for this event\, since we will be limited by the number of people who can fit around the conference table with computers comfortably. Please RSVP by sending an email confirming your attendance to event organizer Rob Cuthrell at info@growcloser.eco.
