SUMMARY:Mindful Drawing Group
DESCRIPTION:A weekly practice group focusing on the meditative benefits of drawing and mixed media arts. \nStudies in the Creative Arts Therapies have shown that drawing\, especially when incorporated as part of a regular meditative practice\, can help promote relaxation\, mindful presence\, beneficial “flow” states\, and a sense of well being. \nIn this weekly practice group\, we will learn and share a variety of drawing techniques that are especially good for helping with creating a meditative state. Some areas we have explored\, but are not limited to\, included: \nNeurographic art\nTouch drawing\nBlind contour drawing\n“slow” drawing\nZentangle and Zen Doodling\ndrawing from still life\nReverse water color pages\nadding shading and color to pen and ink drawings \nSessions are facilitated by an experienced artist\, and all necessary tools and materials are provided. You are welcome to bring your own favorite materials as desired. No prior experience is necessary for Mindful Drawing sessions\, just your sense of curiosity and creativity!

LCCC will host a grant proposal workshop in the Bromley Room at Siuslaw Library to assist all grant seekers in their application preparation. Food and beverages will be provided at this free event. (This program is neither sponsored nor endorsed by the Siuslaw Public Library District.) \nCultural Opportunity Grants are available to for-profit businesses\, nonprofit organizations and individuals to support access\, awareness\, and education for programs and projects related to arts\, heritage\, and humanities. Grant amounts generally range from $500 to $2\,500. Projects must occur in 2027.   \nThe deadline to submit grant applications will be Wednesday\, October 15th by 5pm.
