DESCRIPTION:  \nYou’re Invited! \nTake a Fresh Look at Youth Art!  \nGala Reception\, April 30th\, 2026: An Artists Reception and Awards Ceremony is planned for April 30th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM\, with awards announced at 6:00 PM. This all-ages event is free and open to the public\, and visitors will have plenty of time to view the art\, enjoy refreshments\, chat with the artists\, and perhaps purchase one of their works.  \nProceeds from all art sales go directly to the Youth Artists.  \nInfo about the show: \nThe Gallery Committee of Florence Arts\, Culture & Entertainment (FACE)\, is thrilled to announce the 2026 Fresh Impressions Youth Art Exhibition is now open for viewing!  \nThis annual exhibition is a Florence favorite\, showcasing the incredible artistic skills of students at Siuslaw Middle and High Schools as well as area homeschool students.  \nShow Dates: April 1st to May 25th\, 2026. Make it a point to visit the FEC during business hours (8:30 AM – 5:00 PM\, weekdays) to view this exciting show with over 100 works on display. Galleries One and Five open to the public and admittance is free. Due to private events held at the FEC\, some locations may be temporarily closed to the public. Apologies for any inconvenience. \nFresh Impressions is a wonderful opportunity to embrace\, enrich\, and foster the talents of young artists in the Siuslaw Region. In addition to showcasing their artwork\, both the show and reception encourage them to excel at their studies\, learn what it takes to prepare artwork for a public gallery show\, and discover that — yes — our community really does care about the arts.  \nShow production is supported by art teachers Lauren Suveges (Siuslaw High School) and Christina Ory (Siuslaw Middle School) who have been instrumental in helping students provide art for this exhibit. DESCRIPTION:Summer is almost over which means it is a great time to do a community household clean up!\nWant to dispose of propane tanks\, mattresses\, tires\, block foam\, household goods\, eye wear\, hearing aids\, unopened food\, or leftover paint and building materials? And\, you don’t want to run all over town? The City of Florence Environmental Management Advisory Committee has organized a “one stop” drop event. \nSave the date of Saturday\, August 16th from 10 am until 2 pm\, and drop off your items at the Siuslaw Middle School south parking lot with entrances on 27th and Oak Streets. Volunteers and staff are available to help you unload your vehicles and trailers. \nThe main happening is the city’s annual Black and White Recycling Event\, so named because it enables city residents to get rid of unwanted black tires\, white propane tanks and historically white appliances FREE of charge. County Transfer & Recycling will be loading and transporting these items with size and quantity limitations as follows: propane and helium tanks 5 gallons or smaller; freon appliances—like refrigerators\, air conditioners\, and water coolers\, and passenger automobile tires that have 19.5″ rims or smaller limited to 5 per household. Disposal of Black and White items are limited to city residents\, but after 1pm disposal will open up to the greater Florence area residents if funding is still available using the generous donations of Les Schwab and St. Vinnies. \nThis year\, other organizations listed below are joining the event to provide additional FREE disposal opportunities. Here is what they are accepting:\n•St. Vinnies: mattresses\, block Styrofoam and household items for reuse. They can also take appliances that can be refurbished. https://www.svdp.us/lane-countys-best-nonprofit\n•Habitat for Humanity: Paint (in the original container with a secure lid) and reusable construction materials. https://www.florencehabitat.org\n•Lions Club of Florence: eyeglasses and hearing aids. https://e-clubhouse.org/sites/florence_siuslaw\n•Clearing out the pantry? EMAC will accept your non-perishable food items for Florence Food Share. https://florencefoodshare.org\n•Now has all that talk of clean-up around the house got you hungry?
