It will be a gift to have you. \n\nTwo Wednesdays\, December 17\, 2025 & January 7\, 2026 1:00-2:30 PM\nNew Life Lutheran Church—2100 Spruce St. Florence\, OR\n\nWhat will Class be like?\nThe Christmas Story in the Gospel of Matthew is found in Matthew’s first two chapters. Chapter 1 is a genealogy\, but it’s a really interesting one!! Chapter 1 also tells about the birth of Jesus. Chapter 2 is about the Wisemen and King Herod. (This is where things really get dicey!) \nIn the first class on Wednesday\, December 17 we will: \n\nIntroduce ourselves.\nTalk about the Online Quiz some of us took. (As in “the answers” and “what did people say?”)\nWe’ll look at Matthew’s unique genealogy. (What the heck is he doing here\, and why?!)\nThen\, we’ll focus in on Matthew 1:18-25. As time allows we will discuss how Matthew’s Christmas Story is different than what we read in the Gospel of Luke – and why.\n\nSomewhere in the midst of all this we’ll take a break.\nFeel free to bring you own Bible if you wish. We will also have Bible available.\nThere will also be handouts\, PPT slides to see\, etc.\n\n\n\nIn the second class on Wednesday\, January 7 we will: \n\nRe-introduce ourselves as needed.\nReview the first session\, what we learned\, and what we’ve been thinking about over Christmas\, etc.\nThen we’ll launch into Matthew chapter 2!\n\nWho were the Wisemen?\nWhat was King Herod’s problem?!\nKing Herod\, the Wisemen\, and Mary\, Joseph & Jesus – all had critical decisions to make. What can we learn from them?\nAnd ‘wrap up’ – of course!\n\n\n\nThere will be “lecture/presentation” components to the class\, but plenty of time will be given for discussion\, questions and everybody’s thoughts. We will go as fast or as slow as we all want to.

Please remember to bring your ID card to be served alcohol.  \nThink back to your childhood\, and the excitement of painting and drawing as a way of learning how to use materials\, and discovering all the things you could do with them. Wouldn’t it feel great to have that freedom and enjoyment back again? You can\, with our Process Paint and Sip night!  \n“Process  painting” and its cousin\, Intuitive Painting\, use a style of expressive art that focuses on the experience of using color\, form\, composition\, and the properties of  paint and mixed media to build layers on a surface\, without having a pre-exising idea or attachment to what the end product looks like. We create using a few basic principles that leave room for the spontaneous and the playful to emerge.  \n Focusing on process\,  rather than the finished piece\, frees us up to explore and  experiment\, learn and practice the principles of visual art media\, and build our own repetoire of creative skills and approaches – all without being afraid of making a mistake\, or comparing  ourselves to others. Many folks also find this method of painting helps them feel more comfortable and relaxed in the present moment\, not to mention energized and delighted!  \nDuring the evening\, we will: \n~ Gather  for social time & enjoy your choice of beverages \n~ Learn how process- focused painting works\, and do some basic warm-up exercises\, \n~ Enjoy music and free painting time\, with guidance from an experienced fine artist\, \n~ Learn how to talk about our creative experiences\, what we  learned\, and what we appreciate about one another’s work in a way that’s supportive and encouraging.  \nParticipants will go home with one or more finished pieces\, and the knowledge of how to continue a process/intuitive painting practice on their own. DESCRIPTION:Join the Lane County Master Gardener Pruning Specialists as they teach participants techniques to prune fruit trees in Florence\, on Saturday\, January 24\, 2026\, from 10 a.m. – noon. This outdoor event will be held rain or shine – hot coffee and donuts will be provided! Location: corner of Rhody Drive and Juniper Street in Florence.  \nClasses are presented by trained OSU Master Gardener Pruning Specialists! They will cover proper pruning equipment\, important pruning principles\, and best times to prune. They are eager to share their knowledge and experience with you and want your class experience to be fun\, as well as educational. DESCRIPTION:This is a monthly gathering for our Studio creative community to appreciate\, practice\, and explore approaches/techniques in meditative drawing such as Zentangling\, drawing from observation\, “slow” drawing\, Neurographic arts\, and more. Each session\, we will practice our drawing skills together in a supportive and relaxed environment. Also open to members of the public; beginners welcome! \nLed by a creative arts professional\, at each session\, we will explore a new design\, drawing technique or meditative drawing style. Each assignment will be guaranteed to help you get in the “flow”\, and will help you build new perspectives and skills. If you like\, you can also use the time to work on a meditative drawing project of your own\, share with the group\, trade tips and tricks\, and get technical guidance and support from one another and the group leader. \nYou’re welcome to bring your own drawing supplies and reference material to practice with; We will have extra tools and materials on hand as needed. \nDrawing supplies may also be purchased in advance from Beaux Arts art supply store in Florence\, located just off Hwy. 101 in the Coastal Fitness shopping plaza. \nYou may pre-register for this event\, or pay at the desk at time of session. Kids 6-12 can attend for half price!
