DESCRIPTION:  \nYou’re Invited! \nTake a Fresh Look at Youth Art!  \nGala Reception\, April 30th\, 2026: An Artists Reception and Awards Ceremony is planned for April 23rd from 5:00 to 7:00 PM\, with awards announced at 6:00 PM. This all-ages event is free and open to the public\, and visitors will have plenty of time to view the art\, enjoy refreshments\, chat with the artists\, and perhaps purchase one of their works.  \nProceeds from all art sales go directly to the Youth Artists.  \nInfo about the show: \nThe Gallery Committee of Florence Arts\, Culture & Entertainment (FACE)\, is thrilled to announce the 2026 Fresh Impressions Youth Art Exhibition is now open for viewing!  \nThis annual exhibition is a Florence favorite\, showcasing the incredible artistic skills of students at Siuslaw Middle and High Schools as well as area homeschool students.  \nShow Dates: April 1st to May 25th\, 2026. Make it a point to visit the FEC during business hours (8:30 AM – 5:00 PM\, weekdays) to view this exciting show with over 100 works on display. Galleries One and Five open to the public and admittance is free. Due to private events held at the FEC\, some locations may be temporarily closed to the public. Apologies for any inconvenience. \nFresh Impressions is a wonderful opportunity to embrace\, enrich\, and foster the talents of young artists in the Siuslaw Region. In addition to showcasing their artwork\, both the show and reception encourage them to excel at their studies\, learn what it takes to prepare artwork for a public gallery show\, and discover that — yes — our community really does care about the arts.  \nShow production is supported by art teachers Lauren Suveges (Siuslaw High School) and Christina Ory (Siuslaw Middle School) who have been instrumental in helping students provide art for this exhibit. Participants will learn the basics of emergency preparedness\, including how to plan ahead and stay safe during unexpected events. \nAs part of the experience\, attendees will:\n.\nCreate their own paracord bracelet\, a useful tool in emergency situations.\nReceive a free “go bag” filled to the brim with essential supplies and helpful resources.\nGain knowledge and confidence to be better prepared at home and in their community. \nThis workshop is ideal for youth of all ages and their families\, offering a supportive and engaging environment to learn important life skills. \nNo registration is required—just come ready to learn and have fun. \nNeed more info? DESCRIPTION:INCLUDES: Hosted bar featuring locally crafted wine\, beers and ciders; light refreshments\, coffee/tea/water\, and all materials and instruction. Please remember to bring your ID card to be served alcohol.  \nThink back to your childhood\, and the excitement of painting and drawing as a way of learning how to use materials\, and discovering all the things you could do with them. Wouldn’t it feel great to have that freedom and enjoyment back again? You can\, with our Process Paint and Sip night!  \n“Process  painting” and its cousin\, Intuitive Painting\, use a style of expressive art that focuses on the experience of using color\, form\, composition\, and the properties of  paint and mixed media to build layers on a surface\, without having a pre-exising idea or attachment to what the end product looks like. We create using a few basic principles that leave room for the spontaneous and the playful to emerge.  \n Focusing on process\,  rather than the finished piece\, frees us up to explore and  experiment\, learn and practice the principles of visual art media\, and build our own repetoire of creative skills and approaches – all without being afraid of making a mistake\, or comparing  ourselves to others. Many folks also find this method of painting helps them feel more comfortable and relaxed in the present moment\, not to mention energized and delighted!  \nDuring the evening\, we will: \n~ Gather  for social time & enjoy your choice of beverages \n~ Learn how process- focused painting works\, and do some basic warm-up exercises\, \n~ Enjoy music and free painting time\, with guidance from an experienced fine artist\, \n~ Learn how to talk about our creative experiences\, what we  learned\, and what we appreciate about one another’s work in a way that’s supportive and encouraging.  \nParticipants will go home with one or more finished pieces\, and the knowledge of how to continue a process/intuitive painting practice on their own.
