DESCRIPTION:Have fun and unwind at this dot painting class for beginners\, hosted by one of our popular Studio artists. \nHave fun\, unwind and learn Acrylic dot painting skills in this after hours class\, presented by Florence artist\, 808 Koastal Krafts. During the evening\, you’ll get to play with paint textures and application techniques\, apply stencils\, and get all the info you’ll need to continue your own dotting practice at home. \nParticipants can enjoy a variety of local and regional wine\, beer and cider\, light refreshments. All tools and materials\, and personalized instruction are included. You will get to take home one or more dot mandala creations to keep or give as gifts. \nNOTE: Beginner dotting class is a prerequisite for more advanced skill classes; please inquire with instructor for more info. \nABOUT THE ARTIST: 808 Koastal Krafts is a beach girl at heart\, inspired by the ocean’s beauty. With 20 years on Maui and now nestled in Florence\, Oregon\, she creates enchanting ocean-inspired crafts using shells and treasures collected over the years.

SUMMARY:Scotch Broom Removal at BLM’s 80-acre parcel on Trans Pacific Parkway – Saturday\, April 25
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Earth Day by volunteering with the Oregon Dunes Restoration Collaborative and Coos Watershed Association to remove invasive Scotch broom and European beach grass at the BLM’s 80-acre parcel on Trans Pacific Parkway on Saturday\, April 25 from 10 AM to Noon. We will be working on a moderate\, sandy slope about 1/10 of a mile from the road. Bring closed-toe shoes\, work gloves\, water\, and snacks. Please bring shovels or loppers if you have them. If you don’t\, ODRC will have tools you can borrow. The Scotch broom plants are generally small\, so this will be a good opportunity for families to work together helping out the Oregon dunes! \nAs you know\, the weather on the Oregon coast can be quite varied. One day it can be nice and sunny\, which we are hoping for on the 25th\, the next day it can be stormy. Dress for the weather! If it is sunny or misting\, we will be working\, if it is a storm\, we will cancel. We will make the best call that we can Friday afternoon\, the 24th. Check back at our webpage\, www.SaveOregonDunes.org/events/ or our Facebook page\, Save The Oregon Dunes\, for updates. \nDirections: \nFrom Florence\, Oregon\, take Hwy 101 south\, 45 miles. Turn right onto Trans Pacific Parkway and go approximately 1.75 miles (you will go past both Horsfall Beach Rd. and Jordan Cove Rd.) There is a turnout on the south side of the road next to the railroad tracks where you can park. If that area fills up\, there is a smaller turnout on the north side of the road. The shoulder of the road is wide in this area\, so there is additional parking on the shoulder if the turnouts fill up.
