While we mosey down the trail\, Dina Pavlis from ODRC will be giving us the history of the Oregon Dunes\, and telling us about the flora and fauna of the area. We will walk at a gentle pace and take some time for lunch. \nHiking information: \nWe will meet at the Oregon Dunes Day Use Area and hike about 2 miles roundtrip. We will drop down onto the dunes\, walk accross them and onto the forest trail out to the beach. \nYou should plan to participate in this trail party for its entirety. For safety reasons\, please do not arrive late or expect to be able to leave early.

DESCRIPTION:This is a monthly gathering for our Studio creative community to appreciate\, practice\, and explore approaches/techniques in meditative drawing such as Zentangling\, drawing from observation\, “slow” drawing\, Neurographic arts\, and more. Each session\, we will practice our drawing skills together in a supportive and relaxed environment. Also open to members of the public; beginners welcome! \nLed by a creative arts professional\, at each session\, we will explore a new design\, drawing technique or meditative drawing style. Each assignment will be guaranteed to help you get in the “flow”\, and will help you build new perspectives and skills. We will work at a gentle pace\, enjoy the forest landscape\, and take some time for lunch. \nHiking information: \nWe will meet at the Neptune State Park Scenic Viewpoint north parking lot before we cross the highway to get on the trail. We will hike to our worksite\, about 3/4 to 1 mile in. There are some ups and downs along this trail\, about 50 – 100 feet of elevation gain. There is no restroom at the trailhead. Closest ones are a 1/4 mile north at the Cape Pereptua Visitor Center or 1/4 mile south at the Neptune South parking lot. \nYou should plan to participate in this trail party for its entirety. For safety reasons\, please do not arrive late or expect to be able to leave early.

DESCRIPTION:West Lane Emergency Communications Network is a local neighborhood radio network that conducts a monthly radio check-in on the first Monday of each month at 1:00 pm PST. During an emergency where our normal communications services are compromised or eliminated\, this radio network would enable neighbors to communicate with each other\, other neighborhoods\, and the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) wherever it may be located. The radio check-in is conducted on GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service) channel 22\, utilising our repeater on Herman Peak north of Florence. DESCRIPTION:Sustaining and improving the City’s livability and quality of life is Goal 2 of the City of Florence work plan. The Environmental Management Advisory Committee (EMAC) realizes Goal 2 by developing local strategies and advising the City Council on protecting Florence’s health and environment and conserving energy and natural resources. They are responsible for insuring compliance with the City’s solid waste code (FCC 9-4)\, and DEQ’s recycling education rules (OAR 340-090-0030 & 0040) and they serve as the City’s Tree Board.  \nEMAC consists of 5 to 11 members\, of which the majority must be residents of the City and includes additional ex-officio non-voting members.
