SUMMARY:Mindful Drawing Group
DESCRIPTION:A weekly practice group focusing on the meditative benefits of drawing and mixed media arts. \nStudies in the Creative Arts Therapies have shown that drawing\, especially when incorporated as part of a regular meditative practice\, can help promote relaxation\, mindful presence\, beneficial “flow” states\, and a sense of well being. \nIn this weekly practice group\, we will learn and share a variety of drawing techniques that are especially good for helping with creating a meditative state. Some areas we have explored\, but are not limited to\, included: \nNeurographic art\nTouch drawing\nBlind contour drawing\n“slow” drawing\nZentangle and Zen Doodling\ndrawing from still life\nReverse water color pages\nadding shading and color to pen and ink drawings \nSessions are facilitated by an experienced artist\, and all necessary tools and materials are provided. You are welcome to bring your own favorite materials as desired. No prior experience is necessary for Mindful Drawing sessions\, just your sense of curiosity and creativity!

DESCRIPTION:West Lane Emergency Communications Network is a local neighborhood radio network that conducts a monthly radio check-in on the first Monday of each month at 1:00 pm PST. During an emergency where our normal communications services are compromised or eliminated\, this radio network would enable neighbors to communicate with each other\, other neighborhoods\, and the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) wherever it may be located. The radio check-in is conducted on GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service) channel 22\, utilising our repeater on Herman Peak north of Florence. SUMMARY:North Fork Smith River 3 day BCST – Central Coast
DESCRIPTION:Join TKO on one of our Back Country Service Trips! Spend 3 days cutting vegetation/working on the trail surface while backpacking riverside.\n\nFor more details and to register\, click here. \n\n\nThis project will require strong hiking abilities\, and will include completing work while moving an overnight pack. Please consider your personal fitness level before signing up. If you have any questions\, or are unsure if this the right trip for you\, please reach out! \nProject Information: \nWe will spend three days (two nights) brushing and fixing the tread (surface of the trail) along this 8 mile trail. Day 1 we will start at Kentucky Falls and work as we go cutting heavy brush and fixing tread. We will hike up to 3 miles to our first camp spot. Day 2 we will continue moving down trail\, brushing and working on tread\, focusing on a major landslide. We will hike up to 2.5 miles to our second camp. Day 3 we will continue our brushing and tread wokr and hike the last 3 miles to the trailhead. \nHiking information: \nWe will hike from the Kentucky Falls Trailhead down river to the North Fork Smith Trailhead. This trail is 8.5 miles in total with up to 800 feet of elevation change\, mostly downhill desecent. We will hike 3 miles the first day\, 2.5 miles on day 2 and just under 3 miles on day 3. The trail is a moderate descent at the start and then meanders through creek drainages\,with a strenuous uphill ascent before camp 2. We will stop frequently to cut brush and fix tread. There is some shade on the trail\, and moving a pack along as you work can be quite strenuous. \nYou should plan to participate in this trail party for its entirety. For safety reasons\, please do not arrive late or expect to be able to leave early. \nCamping Details: \nThis is a self-supported trip! Please make sure to bring adequate food and water filtration\, as well as tent\, sleeping bag\, and any other equipment you may need for 2 nights in the backcountry. Come hang out and celebrate the United State of Interdependence with us!  \n__________ \nKick back and mingle at our First Friday After Hours—A great way to learn about the Studio and connect with creative healing community. \nYou can look forward to displays of live painting from local and regional artists\, updates on what’s new with our Gallery\, classes and upcoming activities\, fun and danceable music\, an intimate and welcoming space for movement\, connecting and fun\, and of course our community potluck.  \nYou can also expect an open easel or two for you to join in the art making fun\, and the occasional special showcase or performance in a variety of wellness and expressive arts media.  \nAll ages hour between 5 to 6pm – BYOB afterwards. We will have coffee\, tea and water available in addition to refreshments. On May 1 we be celebrating May Day with a community BBQ.

DESCRIPTION:A weekly practice group focusing on the meditative benefits of drawing and mixed media arts. \nStudies in the Creative Arts Therapies have shown that drawing\, especially when incorporated as part of a regular meditative practice\, can help promote relaxation\, mindful presence\, beneficial “flow” states\, and a sense of well being. \nIn this weekly practice group\, we will learn and share a variety of drawing techniques that are especially good for helping with creating a meditative state. Some areas we have explored\, but are not limited to\, included: \nNeurographic art\nTouch drawing\nBlind contour drawing\n“slow” drawing\nZentangle and Zen Doodling\ndrawing from still life\nReverse water color pages\nadding shading and color to pen and ink drawings \nSessions are facilitated by an experienced artist\, and all necessary tools and materials are provided. You are welcome to bring your own favorite materials as desired. No prior experience is necessary for Mindful Drawing sessions\, just your sense of curiosity and creativity!
