SUMMARY:18th Annual Nativity Festival in Florence
DESCRIPTION:The Florence Nativity Festival committee recently met to begin preparation for its 18th annual nativity exhibit.  Keeping consistent with the last few years\, this year’s event will be held for 3 days and include live music and homemade cookies.  The festival will run from Friday\, December 5th through Sunday December 7th from 1-5pm each day. It will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located on the corner of North Fork and Munsel Lake Roads in Florence. \nThe event is free.\nFrom a modest beginning in 2006 with 119 nativities on display\, the festival has grown to include almost 400 representing many countries\, media and cultures – all from local community members.   Anyone in the area who desires to display a nativity is invited to participate in the festival. If you have a cherished heirloom or a papier-mache scene made by your first grader\, all nativities\, large or small are welcome.  \nSecurity is provided for the scenes once they are set up at the church For information about sharing your display\, please contact Vickie Kennedy at 541 991-7397 or email vdkennedy54@gmail.com

This program offers a valuable opportunity to expand your cultural perspectives and deepen your connections. DESCRIPTION:West Lane Emergency Communications Network is a local neighborhood radio network that conducts a monthly radio check-in on the first Monday of each month at 1:00 pm PST. During an emergency where our normal communications services are compromised or eliminated\, this radio network would enable neighbors to communicate with each other\, other neighborhoods\, and the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) wherever it may be located. The radio check-in is conducted on GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service) channel 22\, utilising our repeater on Herman Peak north of Florence. While you can listen in on any GMRS radio on channel 22\, you must have a radio that can accept programming of send/receive offsets and tones (CH 22R (462.725MHz +5MHz offset  186.2Hz Tone).  Please contact Jay Guettler @ westlaneecn@gmail.com for more information or just join us on the radio at the listed time and date.
