SUMMARY:North Fork Siuslaw Birding Paddle
DESCRIPTION:Come for a paddle to experience birds from a whole new vantage point on the North Fork of the Siuslaw River. \nMcKenzie River Trust and the Siuslaw Watershed Council are providing a free fun afternoon on the water; enjoy a guided canoe and kayak trip on the north fork of the Siuslaw river with a focus on local bird species! This event is open to all levels of paddling experience. \nCanoes and Kayaks will be provided; when reserving a spot on Eventbrite\, please choose the ticket corresponding to the type of watercraft you would like to utilize. Canoes can hold up to three participants. Tandem kayaks can hold two. Single-seater kayaks have closed and open-topped options. Life vests will also be provided\, but participants are welcome to bring their own if they prefer. Binoculars are recommended.

DESCRIPTION:The June 4\, 2025 regular monthly meeting of FACC will feature Riverview Center for Growth and\, more specifically\, its Riverview Crisis Response Program. When our own Western Lane Crisis Response team needs help with youth\, it is Riverview they call. Riverview (formerly known as “The Child Center) is a nonprofit organization with over 50 years of service. It was ranked 5th in the 100 Best Nonprofits to Work For in Oregon in 2024.\nIf you are able to come in person\, you will have the opportunity to meet Julie Williamson\, MA\, Director of Crisis Services\, Elise Gray\, Crisis and ISS Supervisor\, and Jazmin Bird\, Development & Outreach Coordinator. You will learn about their child and adolescent crisis response program\, situations that are considered a “crisis\,” what to expect if you make a crisis call\, who is able or required to consent to treatment\, the extensive array of services they provide\, and how\, if a youth or family is not connected to mental services and is in need\, Intensive Stabilization Services (ISS) are implemented to provide interim support until long-term services can be obtained. Their slideshow presentation will be emailed after the meeting to those who request it\, but if you can come please do as there is no better opportunity to ask questions and learn from the questions that others ask too.\nThe business meeting following the presentation will include election of directors and officers for the 2025-2026 fiscal year and adoption of a budget. You can also bring your own project to work on during the group\, or a small “make and take” for the group to work on.  \nThis group will be held in our main workshop\, which includes access to our coffee/tea/water station\, high speed Wi-Fi\, big screen monitor\, Bluetooth stereo\, and any additional art or craft supplies needed.  \nNOTE: As of December 2025\, this group is now free of charge\, but donations to help us cover rent and supplies are always appreciated!
