All are invited to bring ideas for decorating the vehicle or volunteering to carry flags and banners.\nPFLAG will continue to participate in special events\, sponsor guest speakers\, and provide support groups throughout the year\, so consider getting involved and making new friends.\nThe meeting should wrap up by 7:30 p.m. As with all PFLAG events\, the meeting is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be available.\nPFLAG Florence is one of more than 400 chapters in the largest national organization serving the LGBTQ+ community and those who love them.

DESCRIPTION:Come and learn about how you can help save the insects with David Kollen from the Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation!\n“Insect Apocalypse: “Insect Apocalypse?: What is really happening\, why it matters\, and how you can be part of the solution” summary: \nIntroduction to the Xerces Society\nThe Importance of Invertebrates\nThe Evidence of Invertebrate Decline\nThreats to Invertebrates\nNature-based Climate Solutions \n“Insect Apocalypse” starts with an overview of invertebrates including their diversity and biomass\, and goes on to describe how this enables their tremendous contribution to our food webs. Other ecosystem services such as decomposition and pollination are also covered. The talk then goes on to look at various studies and data trends that provide evidence of invertebrate declines.\nWith invertebrate declines setting the stage\, the topic progresses to the many threats thought to underpin these declines. Finally\, we will look at nature-based climate solutions. These are solutions that support invertebrate biodiversity and at the same time serve to mitigate some of the harmful impacts of climate change. \nDave Kollen is a Xerces Society Ambassador and in that role is involved in educational and outreach work. In addition\, he is an OSU Extension certified Master Melittoligist\, Bee Steward\, and Oregon Naturalist. His involvement in community science includes the Pacific Northwest Bumble Bee Atlas\, the California Bumble Bee Atlas\, and the Oregon Bee Atlas. Dave also writes pollinator-focused articles for the Oregon State Federation of Garden Clubs newsletter\, Mahonia.

Led by our guest instructor\, Christi Krug\, you will benefit from an evening of stretching\, strengthening\, developing balance\, and listening to your inner wisdom\, along with an opportunity for meditative time\, poetry\, and other gentle reminders to encourage self care. Her yoga classes integrate these elements with gentle physical instruction\, recognizing that each body is uniquely designed. She is trained in Kripalu yoga which emphasizes breathing and awareness\, helping students tap into the wisdom of their own bodies. She teaches yoga at Lane Community College\, Florence OR extension.
