DESCRIPTION:This is a monthly gathering for our Studio creative community to appreciate\, practice\, and explore approaches/techniques in meditative drawing such as Zentangling\, drawing from observation\, “slow” drawing\, Neurographic arts\, and more. Each session\, we will practice our drawing skills together in a supportive and relaxed environment. Also open to members of the public; beginners welcome! \nLed by a creative arts professional\, at each session\, we will explore a new design\, drawing technique or meditative drawing style. Each assignment will be guaranteed to help you get in the “flow”\, and will help you build new perspectives and skills. If you like\, you can also use the time to work on a meditative drawing project of your own\, share with the group\, trade tips and tricks\, and get technical guidance and support from one another and the group leader. \nYou’re welcome to bring your own drawing supplies and reference material to practice with; We will have extra tools and materials on hand as needed. \nDrawing supplies may also be purchased in advance from Beaux Arts art supply store in Florence\, located just off Hwy. 101 in the Coastal Fitness shopping plaza. \nYou may pre-register for this event\, or pay at the desk at time of session. Kids 6-12 can attend for half price!

DESCRIPTION:Join Oregon Shores and the Siuslaw Watershed Council for a hands-on workshop where beach debris becomes art with meaning! \nCreate ephemeral\, multidimensional “mini mosaics” using real marine debris collected along the Oregon Coast. The session begins with an introduction to how king tides and marine debris shape our shoreline\, followed by a guided discussion on the complex role plastics play in our lives. \nParticipants will then explore bins of cleaned\, color-sorted debris and choose pieces that spark their curiosity—imagining where each item came from or what it once was. Using black foam board as a backdrop\, everyone will design a nature-inspired scene that holds personal significance. \nWhen the artworks are complete\, we’ll take a short “gallery walk” to appreciate one another’s creations before returning all materials to their bins. Together\, we’ll close with a conversation about what we discovered\, how our perspectives may have shifted\, and creative ways we can reduce plastic pollution in our communities. \n  \nThis workshop is free- but space is limited! There will always be enough to go around. The church is located at the corner of 2nd and Kingwood\, one block West of Highway 101. \nIn addition to food\, there will be games\, prizes\, sharing and a recap of new opportunities for outreach in the new business year\, which began last month with the introduction of the new board.  \nYou do not have to be a member of PFLAG to attend. All meetings are free and open to the public. The new board especially welcomes new ideas and help with its community outreach.  \nPFLAG Florence is a member of the Florence Area Chamber of Commerce and the Florence Area Community Coalition. It’s an affiliate of a national organization of more than 400 local chapters that are working to create a caring\, just\, and affirming world for LGBTQ+ people and those who love them.
