DESCRIPTION:This is a monthly gathering for our Studio creative community to appreciate\, practice\, and explore approaches/techniques in meditative drawing such as Zentangling\, drawing from observation\, “slow” drawing\, Neurographic arts\, and more. Each session\, we will practice our drawing skills together in a supportive and relaxed environment. Also open to members of the public; beginners welcome! \nLed by a creative arts professional\, at each session\, we will explore a new design\, drawing technique or meditative drawing style. Each assignment will be guaranteed to help you get in the “flow”\, and will help you build new perspectives and skills. If you like\, you can also use the time to work on a meditative drawing project of your own\, share with the group\, trade tips and tricks\, and get technical guidance and support from one another and the group leader. \nYou’re welcome to bring your own drawing supplies and reference material to practice with; We will have extra tools and materials on hand as needed. \nDrawing supplies may also be purchased in advance from Beaux Arts art supply store in Florence\, located just off Hwy. 101 in the Coastal Fitness shopping plaza. \nYou may pre-register for this event\, or pay at the desk at time of session. DESCRIPTION:A weekly practice group focusing on the meditative benefits of drawing and mixed media arts. \nStudies in the Creative Arts Therapies have shown that drawing\, especially when incorporated as part of a regular meditative practice\, can help promote relaxation\, mindful presence\, beneficial “flow” states\, and a sense of well being. \nIn this weekly practice group\, we will learn and share a variety of drawing techniques that are especially good for helping with creating a meditative state. Some areas we have explored\, but are not limited to\, included: \nNeurographic art\nTouch drawing\nBlind contour drawing\n“slow” drawing\nZentangle and Zen Doodling\ndrawing from still life\nReverse water color pages\nadding shading and color to pen and ink drawings \nSessions are facilitated by an experienced artist\, and all necessary tools and materials are provided. You are welcome to bring your own favorite materials as desired. No prior experience is necessary for Mindful Drawing sessions\, just your sense of curiosity and creativity!

We will removing small Scotch broom in a meadow and larger plants on a slope going down to the Siuslaw River. Bring closed-toe shoes\, work gloves\, water\, and snacks. Please bring shovels or hoes\, hand saws\, or loppers if you have them. If you don’t\, ODRC will have tools you can borrow. \nDue to limited parking at the city park\, please park along Hemlock St. and walk to the park (approximately 1000 feet). \nDirections: \nFrom the intersection of Hwy. 101 and Hwy. 126 in Florence\, OR\, go south on Hwy. 101 0.3 miles\, turn right on Rhododendron Dr. and go 0.3 miles\, turn left on Hemlock St. and park along the street. Go back to Rhododendron Dr. and walk west 0.2 miles to the park. \nThe Oregon Dunes Restoration Collaborative’s mission is to collaboratively support\, guide and promote Oregon dunes restoration and the preservation of the open sand\, unique habitats\, and dunes processes that benefit the plants\, animals and people who live and play in this special place.

DESCRIPTION:A weekly practice group focusing on the meditative benefits of drawing and mixed media arts. \nStudies in the Creative Arts Therapies have shown that drawing\, especially when incorporated as part of a regular meditative practice\, can help promote relaxation\, mindful presence\, beneficial “flow” states\, and a sense of well being. \nIn this weekly practice group\, we will learn and share a variety of drawing techniques that are especially good for helping with creating a meditative state. Some areas we have explored\, but are not limited to\, included: \nNeurographic art\nTouch drawing\nBlind contour drawing\n“slow” drawing\nZentangle and Zen Doodling\ndrawing from still life\nReverse water color pages\nadding shading and color to pen and ink drawings \nSessions are facilitated by an experienced artist\, and all necessary tools and materials are provided. You are welcome to bring your own favorite materials as desired. No prior experience is necessary for Mindful Drawing sessions\, just your sense of curiosity and creativity!

DESCRIPTION:DEADLINE: June 1st! \nApply Now! \nCall for Art\nElm Park Early Learning Center & Apartments \nElm Park Apartments and Elm Park Early Learning Center\, in partnership with Florence Regional Arts Alliance (FRAA) and BeauxArts Fine Art Materials\, is pleased to invite emerging\, mid-career\, and established artists to submit 2D &/or 3D original artwork for their property. \nElm Park Apartments is an affordable rental housing complex located at 1051 Greenwood Street\, and Elm Park Early Learning Center is a co-located four-classroom childcare center at 1001 Greenwood Street. Both are in the City of Florence\, north-west of the City of Florence Justice Center. The property is currently under construction\, with plans to install the art from this call upon completion of construction and the grand opening of the property. Additional information about this project and its impact on our community is listed at the end of the application under Background Information. \nThere are several locations for art on these properties\, and the call requests two types of art. Each location has specific dimensions and particular requirements. \n\n2D works will be purchased and placed in the Elm Park Apartments’ Community Room and Rental Office\, which will welcome visitors and residents\, and in the entry corridor of the Elm Park Early Learning Center\, which will welcome children and parents each morning. \n3D\, up to two possible locations for outdoor sculptural work that will be purchased and installed outside. One east of outside the Community Building and the other between Buildings D & E.\n\nThe Art selected for these locations will provide community pride\, give artists an opportunity to share their art in an area with high visibility and create a sense of place for our community members and visitors.  \nThere will be an Application & Project Presentation about this Call for Art on April 14\, 2026 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the FRAA Creative Center (1458 1st Street)\, right around the corner from the FRAA Gallery. DESCRIPTION:West Lane Emergency Communications Network is a local neighborhood radio network that conducts a monthly radio check-in on the first Monday of each month at 1:00 pm PST. During an emergency where our normal communications services are compromised or eliminated\, this radio network would enable neighbors to communicate with each other\, other neighborhoods\, and the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) wherever it may be located. The radio check-in is conducted on GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service) channel 22\, utilising our repeater on Herman Peak north of Florence.
