This local creative partnership between Dragon Art Studio and BeauxArts Fine Art Materials has brought forth a creative cultural and economic opportunity for all types of creatives at all levels of skill.  \nThe self guided Open Studio Tour takes place over two weeks in September (9/6-7 and 9/20-21 from noon to 4pm) to provide people ample opportunities to experience multiple locations. \nParticipants of the tour get a look into how and where the artist creates – where the magic happens!  This experience provides tour participants a fun and fresh look at their favorite local artists and chances to discover new artists and their work. Tour participants will be able to get their passports stamped for chances to win prizes and art.  For those patrons interested in visiting the tour locations\, passes can be purchased at ElementsOfArtStudioTour.com. \nArtists will also be showcased all year in our artist directory and website allowing patrons to connect after the show for commission work and further purchases. This will also help artists to build their audience.  \nPatrons of the arts (and fellow artists) have an opportunity to sponsor an artist on the tour.  Many of the artists in our area lost business and profits during the covid pandemic\, or have had trouble getting their businesses off the ground. Our directory of artists and the studio tour is one way we hope to bring business and collaboration to local artists. SUMMARY:Beat the Wave Florence Tsunami Evacuation Quest
DESCRIPTION:Join volunteers with the City of Florence\, the Office of Resilience and Emergency Management\, Oregon Department of Human Services\, and Oregon Coast Quests\, to celebrate the rollout of a new Oregon Coast Quest in the Siuslaw Region.  \nAt the event\, you will receive an advanced copy of the new “Beat the Wave Florence Tsunami Evacuation Quest.” Have fun walking the evacuation route from the Port of Siuslaw to the Florence Events Center as you seek out secret clues guiding you to a hidden box! Along the way\, you will enjoy learning about tsunami safety and discover special places. The Quest is ideal for adults and youth (4th grade and above). Friendly dogs are also encouraged to attend this event (dogs not required). \nIn addition to receiving an advanced copy of the Quest (which is not yet in available to the public)\, you also will have the opportunity to enter a free raffle drawing\, receive a goodie bag (first 25 individuals or family groups to sign in get a bag)\, and receive important free tsunami and emergency preparedness information from several nonprofits\, including Oregon Coast Humane Society\, Oregon Sea Grant\, and others.  \nThe event takes place on Sunday\, September 7\, from Noon to 2:00 PM near the corner of Nopal and Bay Streets\, on the grassy lawn of the Port of Siuslaw (the boardwalk market is happening that day\, so wander through to find us near the end). The free raffle ticket prizes will be drawn at 2:00pm\, and available at the end of the Quest between 2:30pm-3:30pm. Winners will be texted when their prize is confirmed\, and they must pick up their raffle prize by 3:30pm at the Florence Events Center. Friendly dogs are encouraged to participate in the walk (hint- prizes are targeted towards our canine friends and their humans).

The Public Safety was adopted by the City Council on June 2\, 2025\, as Ordinance No. 6\, Series 2025\, referencing the “growing costs of the resource-intensive public safety services.” The fee\, set at an initial rate of $5 per residential unit and $5 per nonresidential unit on developed properties within the incorporated Florence city limit\, was first included in the City’s August 2025 utility billings. The rate will increase to $15 a month on January 1\, 2026 and to $18 a month on July 1\, 2026.If you have questions or comments for them it is a good time to come. \n

DESCRIPTION:West Lane Emergency Communications Network is a local neighborhood radio network that conducts a monthly radio check-in on the first Monday of each month at 1:00 pm PST. During an emergency where our normal communications services are compromised or eliminated\, this radio network would enable neighbors to communicate with each other\, other neighborhoods\, and the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) wherever it may be located. The radio check-in is conducted on GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service) channel 22\, utilising our repeater on Herman Peak north of Florence.
