Come enjoy a fresh-cooked meal in our dining room.  Lunch is served from 11:30 to 12:30 every Tuesday and Thursday. DESCRIPTION:  \nCall for Art\nElm Park Early Learning Center & Apartments \nElm Park Apartments and Elm Park Early Learning Center\, in partnership with Florence Regional Arts Alliance (FRAA) and BeauxArts Fine Art Materials\, is pleased to invite emerging\, mid-career\, and established artists to submit 2D &/or 3D original artwork for their property. \nElm Park Apartments is an affordable rental housing complex located at 1051 Greenwood Street\, and Elm Park Early Learning Center is a co-located four-classroom childcare center at 1001 Greenwood Street. Both are in the City of Florence\, north-west of the City of Florence Justice Center. The property is currently under construction\, with plans to install the art from this call upon completion of construction and the grand opening of the property. Additional information about this project and its impact on our community is listed at the end of the application under Background Information. \nThere are several locations for art on these properties\, and the call requests two types of art. Each location has specific dimensions and particular requirements. \n\n2D works will be purchased and placed in the Elm Park Apartments’ Community Room and Rental Office\, which will welcome visitors and residents\, and in the entry corridor of the Elm Park Early Learning Center\, which will welcome children and parents each morning. \n3D\, up to two possible locations for outdoor sculptural work that will be purchased and installed outside. One east of outside the Community Building and the other between Buildings D & E.\n\nThe Art selected for these locations will provide community pride\, give artists an opportunity to share their art in an area with high visibility and create a sense of place for our community members and visitors.  \nThere will be an Application & Project Presentation about this Call for Art on April 14\, 2026 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the FRAA Creative Center (1458 1st Street)\, right around the corner from the FRAA Gallery. DESCRIPTION:A weekly practice group focusing on the meditative benefits of drawing and mixed media arts. \nStudies in the Creative Arts Therapies have shown that drawing\, especially when incorporated as part of a regular meditative practice\, can help promote relaxation\, mindful presence\, beneficial “flow” states\, and a sense of well being. \nIn this weekly practice group\, we will learn and share a variety of drawing techniques that are especially good for helping with creating a meditative state. Some areas we have explored\, but are not limited to\, included: \nNeurographic art\nTouch drawing\nBlind contour drawing\n“slow” drawing\nZentangle and Zen Doodling\ndrawing from still life\nReverse water color pages\nadding shading and color to pen and ink drawings \nSessions are facilitated by an experienced artist\, and all necessary tools and materials are provided. DESCRIPTION:Free Emergency Preparedness Workshop for Youth and Families Coming to Florence \nFlorence\, OR — Families in the Florence area are invited to attend a fun and interactive Emergency Preparedness Workshop hosted by Lane County Extension 4-H. The event will take place on Friday\, April 10th from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Siuslaw Public Library in the Bromley Room. \nThis free\, hands-on workshop is designed to help youth and families build practical skills for emergency situations while having fun together. Participants will learn the basics of emergency preparedness\, including how to plan ahead and stay safe during unexpected events. \nAs part of the experience\, attendees will:\n.\nCreate their own paracord bracelet\, a useful tool in emergency situations.\nReceive a free “go bag” filled to the brim with essential supplies and helpful resources.\nGain knowledge and confidence to be better prepared at home and in their community. \nThis workshop is ideal for youth of all ages and their families\, offering a supportive and engaging environment to learn important life skills. \nNo registration is required—just come ready to learn and have fun. \nNeed more info?
