We will be working on an area that is very close to the parking area on flat\, sandy slopes and/or along the road near the parking area. Bring closed-toe shoes\, work gloves\, water\, and snacks. Please bring shovels\, hand saws\, or loppers if you have them. If you don’t\, ODRC will have tools you can borrow. \nAs you know\, the weather on the Oregon coast can be quite varied. One day it can be nice and sunny\, which we are hoping for on the 28th\, the next day it can be stormy. Dress for the weather! If it is sunny or misting\, we will be working\, if it is a storm\, we will cancel. We will make the best call that we can Friday afternoon\, the 27th. Their work has created and sustained entities such as the Siuslaw Public Library\, PeaceHealth Peace Harbor Medical Center\, the Florence Events Center\, Lane Community College Florence Center\, the Power of Florence Day of Service\, the Kiwanis Flag Program – as continuing the work of service organizations such as Rotary\, Kiwanis\, Soroptimists\, Delta Gamma\, P.E.O.\, Elks\, and many others. \nThis year’s Legacy of Leadership event honors five First Citizen nominees for their lasting impacts through 2025 as well as the Future First Citizen nominees from Siuslaw High School for 2025. \nThe First Citizen Nominees are: \n\nDale Edwards\nGayle Sisson\nSally Wantz\nMike Webb\nGreg Wood\n\nThe Future First Citizen Nominees are: \n\nNyx Harklerode\nAdylin Holbrook\nDanin Lacouture\nCamden Linton\nJacob Mann\n\nCongratulations to the nominees! \nThe First Citizens Committee received twice the usual number of nominations this year in both categories; the five top scoring finalists were then submitted to the judging panel. Judging is an important honor undertaken by past First Citizens. The winners will be announced during the March 31 event. \nTickets to the Florence First Citizen Legacy Luncheon are now on sale through The Good Deed Project. The ticket price of $30 includes lunch and the Awards Ceremony. The event will recognize past First Citizens and honor the inspiring stories of this year’s nominees. Additionally\, full tables of 8 are available for $300\, which includes sponsoring a meal of a First Citizen nominee.

This all-ages event is free and open to the public\, and visitors will have plenty of time to view the art\, enjoy refreshments\, chat with the artists\, and perhaps purchase one of their works.  \nProceeds from all art sales go directly to the Youth Artists.  \nInfo about the show: \nThe Gallery Committee of Florence Arts\, Culture & Entertainment (FACE)\, is thrilled to announce the 2026 Fresh Impressions Youth Art Exhibition is now open for viewing!  \nThis annual exhibition is a Florence favorite\, showcasing the incredible artistic skills of students at Siuslaw Middle and High Schools as well as area homeschool students.  \nShow Dates: April 1st to May 25th\, 2026. Make it a point to visit the FEC during business hours (8:30 AM – 5:00 PM\, weekdays) to view this exciting show with over 100 works on display. SUMMARY:Environmental Management Advisory Committee Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Sustaining and improving the City’s livability and quality of life is Goal 2 of the City of Florence work plan. The Environmental Management Advisory Committee (EMAC) realizes Goal 2 by developing local strategies and advising the City Council on protecting Florence’s health and environment and conserving energy and natural resources. They are responsible for insuring compliance with the City’s solid waste code (FCC 9-4)\, and DEQ’s recycling education rules (OAR 340-090-0030 & 0040) and they serve as the City’s Tree Board.  \nEMAC consists of 5 to 11 members\, of which the majority must be residents of the City and includes additional ex-officio non-voting members.
