DESCRIPTION:West Lane Emergency Communications Network is a local neighborhood radio network that conducts a monthly radio check-in on the first Monday of each month at 1:00 pm PST. During an emergency where our normal communications services are compromised or eliminated\, this radio network would enable neighbors to communicate with each other\, other neighborhoods\, and the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) wherever it may be located. The radio check-in is conducted on GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service) channel 22\, utilising our repeater on Herman Peak north of Florence. While you can listen in on any GMRS radio on channel 22\, you must have a radio that can accept programming of send/receive offsets and tones (CH 22R (462.725MHz +5MHz offset  186.2Hz Tone).  Please contact Jay Guettler @ westlaneecn@gmail.com for more information or just join us on the radio at the listed time and date.

This meeting will feature deadringer “Santa Claus” Lee Bliven II\, who will be coming to PeaceHarbor Peace Health departments and clinics later in the season. He will also discuss Lane County Senior Support Coalition’s Senior Emergency Support Fund.   Working with our local DHS Aging and Disability Resource Connection\, they can provide insurance copayments\, denture or hearing aid repairs\, utility payments to avoid disconnection\, and rent assistence to prevent eviction. \nAll organizations and groups with events are encouraged to attend. Whether you’re able to come or not\, FACC will help share out information about your event. DESCRIPTION:Join Oregon Shores and the Siuslaw Watershed Council for a hands-on workshop where beach debris becomes art with meaning! \nCreate ephemeral\, multidimensional “mini mosaics” using real marine debris collected along the Oregon Coast. The session begins with an introduction to how king tides and marine debris shape our shoreline\, followed by a guided discussion on the complex role plastics play in our lives. \nParticipants will then explore bins of cleaned\, color-sorted debris and choose pieces that spark their curiosity—imagining where each item came from or what it once was. Using black foam board as a backdrop\, everyone will design a nature-inspired scene that holds personal significance. \nWhen the artworks are complete\, we’ll take a short “gallery walk” to appreciate one another’s creations before returning all materials to their bins. Together\, we’ll close with a conversation about what we discovered\, how our perspectives may have shifted\, and creative ways we can reduce plastic pollution in our communities. \n  \nThis workshop is free- but space is limited!
