DESCRIPTION:This is a monthly gathering for our Studio creative community to appreciate\, practice\, and explore approaches/techniques in meditative drawing such as Zentangling\, drawing from observation\, “slow” drawing\, Neurographic arts\, and more. Each session\, we will practice our drawing skills together in a supportive and relaxed environment. Also open to members of the public; beginners welcome! \nLed by a creative arts professional\, at each session\, we will explore a new design\, drawing technique or meditative drawing style. Each assignment will be guaranteed to help you get in the “flow”\, and will help you build new perspectives and skills. If you like\, you can also use the time to work on a meditative drawing project of your own\, share with the group\, trade tips and tricks\, and get technical guidance and support from one another and the group leader. \nYou’re welcome to bring your own drawing supplies and reference material to practice with; We will have extra tools and materials on hand as needed. \nDrawing supplies may also be purchased in advance from Beaux Arts art supply store in Florence\, located just off Hwy. 101 in the Coastal Fitness shopping plaza. \nYou may pre-register for this event\, or pay at the desk at time of session. DESCRIPTION:Join the Oregon Dunes Restoration Collaborative\, Lane County Parks Department\, and the Friends of Three Mile Prairie on Saturday\, August 23 from 10 AM to Noon to remove invasive Scotch broom and small trees from the Three Mile Prairie Dunes County Park in Florence\, OR. \nThe Three Mile Prairie Dunes site provides good habitat for dunes-adapted native plants and wildlife\, but is threatened by invasive weeds and vegetation. It is located north of Florence Golf Links and west of Highway 101 at Fred Meyer. It is a 15 minute walk from the northwest corner of the Fred Meyer parking lot to the work site over some sand and fairly level ground. \nBring closed-toe shoes\, work gloves\, water\, and snacks. Please bring shovels\, hand saws\, or loppers if you have them. If you don’t\, ODRC will have tools you can borrow. \nDirections: From the intersection of Highways 126 and 101 in Florence\, drive north 2.3 miles and turn west into the Fred Meyer parking lot at the Fred Meyer gas station. Drive past the gas pumps and go to the northwest corner of the parking lot towards the dunes in the back. Event leaders will meet you there. \nThe Oregon Dunes Restoration Collaborative works to collaboratively support\, guide and promote Oregon dunes restoration and the preservation of the open sand habitat that benefits the plants\, animals and people who live and play in this special place. Some past works are put into a fresh format\, providing an airy perspective. \nGuests are invited to explore the creative vision that defines Lind’s work while it is up. An Artist reception is scheduled for August 19th from 5 to 7 pm. \nA longtime resident of the Florence area\, Lind’s work draws inspiration from the Oregon coast’s rugged beauty and ever-changing light. DESCRIPTION:Summer is almost over which means it is a great time to do a community household clean up!\nWant to dispose of propane tanks\, mattresses\, tires\, block foam\, household goods\, eye wear\, hearing aids\, unopened food\, or leftover paint and building materials? And\, you don’t want to run all over town? The City of Florence Environmental Management Advisory Committee has organized a “one stop” drop event. \nSave the date of Saturday\, August 16th from 10 am until 2 pm\, and drop off your items at the Siuslaw Middle School south parking lot with entrances on 27th and Oak Streets. Volunteers and staff are available to help you unload your vehicles and trailers. \nThe main happening is the city’s annual Black and White Recycling Event\, so named because it enables city residents to get rid of unwanted black tires\, white propane tanks and historically white appliances FREE of charge. County Transfer & Recycling will be loading and transporting these items with size and quantity limitations as follows: propane and helium tanks 5 gallons or smaller; freon appliances—like refrigerators\, air conditioners\, and water coolers\, and passenger automobile tires that have 19.5″ rims or smaller limited to 5 per household. Disposal of Black and White items are limited to city residents\, but after 1pm disposal will open up to the greater Florence area residents if funding is still available using the generous donations of Les Schwab and St. Vinnies. \nThis year\, other organizations listed below are joining the event to provide additional FREE disposal opportunities. Here is what they are accepting:\n•St. Vinnies: mattresses\, block Styrofoam and household items for reuse. They can also take appliances that can be refurbished. https://www.svdp.us/lane-countys-best-nonprofit\n•Habitat for Humanity: Paint (in the original container with a secure lid) and reusable construction materials. https://www.florencehabitat.org\n•Lions Club of Florence: eyeglasses and hearing aids. https://e-clubhouse.org/sites/florence_siuslaw\n•Clearing out the pantry?
