DESCRIPTION:Join Ceramic Artist Emily Free Wilson on Sunday afternoons as you explore hand building with a Raku focus. Students will be given clay hand building demonstrations and opportunities to fire their work twice in a raku kiln. Hand builders will also have the option to glaze their work to cone 6 in electric kilns as well. \nClass registration is limited to 12 students. The Central Coast Miniatures Club of Florence has hosted this popular event annually (except for the Covid years of ’20 and ’21) for 20 years. Club members have been busy creating amazing new miniatures for you to see! This is a family event with something to interest everyone\, but please remind children not to touch as our handcrafted collector’s items are very breakable. While you’re there\, sign up for our drawing to win a beautiful 1″ scale miniature Dollhouse. The show will be in the Bromley Room at the Siuslaw Public Library October 19th and 20th\, during library hours on Saturday 10am to 6pm and Sunday 1pm to 5pm. DESCRIPTION:Student will explore different drawing tools including charcoal\, pencil\, and pens in this series of 4 classes. Lessons will focus on techniques\, learning to see and interpret shape\, negative and positive space\, composition\, using still life\, photos\, and plein air as source material. Free sketch time follows direct instruction and drawing exercises each week. Questions are answered and instruction given in the room\, not on a screen. Class will be Mondays Oct 21st & 28th & Nov 4th & 11th. \nYou will need to bring  your own 18″ x 24″ newsprint pad and drawing board\, a drawing pad 8″ x 10 ” or larger. DESCRIPTION:This beginning ceramics class will introduce the basic elements of sculptural and functional clay within the tradition of making pottery. Students will learn the procedures of working with clay from beginning use of wet clay\, through the various stages to completed\, fired pieces. Techniques taught will include pinching\, coil building\, slab construction and the use of a wheel. Basics in tool use\, glazing and firing will be included. Registration to this 8 week course includes 1 bag of clay (25 pounds) and a full level (2 kiln shelves) of finished\, fired work. This class is reserved for adults who sign up for the class. \nThursday nights\, 6-9pm\n7 Week Class
