SUMMARY:Mindful Drawing Group
DESCRIPTION:A weekly practice group focusing on the meditative benefits of drawing and mixed media arts. \nStudies in the Creative Arts Therapies have shown that drawing\, especially when incorporated as part of a regular meditative practice\, can help promote relaxation\, mindful presence\, beneficial “flow” states\, and a sense of well being. \nIn this weekly practice group\, we will learn and share a variety of drawing techniques that are especially good for helping with creating a meditative state. Some areas we have explored\, but are not limited to\, included: \nNeurographic art\nTouch drawing\nBlind contour drawing\n“slow” drawing\nZentangle and Zen Doodling\ndrawing from still life\nReverse water color pages\nadding shading and color to pen and ink drawings \nSessions are facilitated by an experienced artist\, and all necessary tools and materials are provided. You are welcome to bring your own favorite materials as desired. No prior experience is necessary for Mindful Drawing sessions\, just your sense of curiosity and creativity!

SUMMARY:First Friday After Hours at the Studio
DESCRIPTION:* June 1st Friday* – Get down with some ecstatic dance moves in our main event space\, featuring the eclectic and fun sounds of DJ PurpAs\, most recently from the Oregon Coast School of Art’s Yellow Dance! Enjoy viewing some live artmaking as well as our usual community potluck and open patio out back.  \nKick back and mingle at our First Friday After Hours—A great way to learn about the Studio and connect with creative healing community. \nYou can look forward to displays of live painting from local and regional artists\, updates on what’s new with our Gallery\, classes and upcoming activities\, fun and danceable music\, an intimate and welcoming space for movement\, connecting and fun\, and of course our community potluck.  \nYou can also expect an open easel or two for you to join in the art making fun\, and the occasional special showcase or performance in a variety of wellness and expressive arts media.  \nAll ages hour between 5 to 6pm – BYOB afterwards. We will have coffee\, tea and water available in addition to refreshments. On May 1 we be celebrating May Day with a community BBQ.
