DESCRIPTION:Lane Council of Governments and Walktober Lane County have brought back Walktober – a month-long celebration of walking\, connection\, and exploration across Lane County! \nThe City of Florence is participating with Florence Walktober 2026: Walk on the Wild Side on Sunday\, October 18\, from 10 am to 2 pm. \nJoin members of Florence Public Arts Committee and Transportation Committee\, along with the Community & Economic Development Departments\, outside the Florence Events Center\, 715 Quince St. There will be maps to local art walks\, parks\, Oregon Coast Quests\, and several guided tours of public art and the Siuslaw Estuary Trail. \nThis event is open to all ages and our guided walks are accessible. Plus\, there will be prizes! \nBring your pups! Inside the events center\, the Florence Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting the Coastal Canine Classic (separate admission required).

SUMMARY:Mindful Drawing Group
DESCRIPTION:A weekly practice group focusing on the meditative benefits of drawing and mixed media arts. \nStudies in the Creative Arts Therapies have shown that drawing\, especially when incorporated as part of a regular meditative practice\, can help promote relaxation\, mindful presence\, beneficial “flow” states\, and a sense of well being. \nIn this weekly practice group\, we will learn and share a variety of drawing techniques that are especially good for helping with creating a meditative state. Some areas we have explored\, but are not limited to\, included: \nNeurographic art\nTouch drawing\nBlind contour drawing\n“slow” drawing\nZentangle and Zen Doodling\ndrawing from still life\nReverse water color pages\nadding shading and color to pen and ink drawings \nSessions are facilitated by an experienced artist\, and all necessary tools and materials are provided. You are welcome to bring your own favorite materials as desired. No prior experience is necessary for Mindful Drawing sessions\, just your sense of curiosity and creativity!
