DESCRIPTION:Volunteers are needed to help the Oregon Dunes Restoration Collaborative remove invasive Scotch broom from the John Dellenback Dunes on Saturday\, June 27 from 10:00 AM to Noon. John Dellenback Dunes is one of our “Preserve the Best” sites with lots of good open sand dune habitat for native plants and animals; so it is an important location to continue our efforts to remove invasive Scotch broom. It is approximately 0.4 miles uphill on the trail to the worksite. After the event\, it is a short walk to an outstanding viewpoint of large\, open sand dunes with the ocean in the distance. \nWear sturdy\, closed-toe shoes for hiking on the sand and bring work gloves\, water\, and snacks. Please bring shovels\, hand saws\, or loppers if you have them. If you don’t\, ODRC will have tools you can borrow. Day use fees are waived for volunteers at this event. \nDirections: From Florence\, take Hwy 101 South approximately 32.8 miles to the John Dellenback Dunes Trailhead. Turn right (west) into the trailhead. \nFrom Reedsport\, take Hwy 101 South approximately 10.5 miles to the John Dellenback Dunes Trailhead. Turn right (west) into the trailhead. \nFrom North Bend\, take Hwy 101 North approximately 13.0 miles to the John Dellenback Dunes Trailhead. Turn left (west) into the trailhead.

DESCRIPTION:Clean up After the 4th of July ! Help keep our public beach clean especially after the July 4th festivities! We will be cleaning up beach starting at Driftwood Shores – from 9 am until noon on Sunday July 5th.  \nMaster Recyclers of Florence and The City of Florence Environmental Management Advisory Committee (EMAC) along with County Transfer and Recycling (CTR) will be hosting the event. Thanks to Lane County Parks for their support and Driftwood Shores for their collaboration! Volunteers will get a “reward” for their efforts! Come and join us !\nThank you for doing your part to protect the ocean\, wildlife and environment!  \nAdvanced Registration: Is required. Please sign up (green button below) ahead of time to guarantee your spot. \nMeeting Location: Heceta Beach County Park Parking Lot \nAddress: 88480 1st Street Florence\, OR 97439 | Map Link \nWhat to Bring: Please wear closed-toed shoes and weather-appropriate clothing\, and bring a backpack for hands-free convenience. These dates encompass both the Fourth of July holiday and the 2026 Florence Community Block Party on Friday\, July 17. \nHow it Works:\nComplete the missions to earn points! The top three to five players with the most points will receive a Florence Swag Bag. \nOur community scavenger hunt will have three types of missions: \n\nKnowledge Missions: Participants will have the opportunity to answer questions and riddles.\nPhoto Missions: Photo missions will direct participants to take photos at the Block Party\, with members of our community\, at Florence landmarks\, or just doing fun activities.\nVideo Missions: The video missions challenge participants to complete fun videos at the Block Party\, with members of our community\, or at Florence landmarks\, at home\, or around the community.\nBonus Missions: We have incorporated some special bonus opportunities in the photo and video missions.
