Come hang out and celebrate the United State of Interdependence with us!  \n__________ \nKick back and mingle at our First Friday After Hours—A great way to learn about the Studio and connect with creative healing community. \nYou can look forward to displays of live painting from local and regional artists\, updates on what’s new with our Gallery\, classes and upcoming activities\, fun and danceable music\, an intimate and welcoming space for movement\, connecting and fun\, and of course our community potluck.  \nYou can also expect an open easel or two for you to join in the art making fun\, and the occasional special showcase or performance in a variety of wellness and expressive arts media.  \nAll ages hour between 5 to 6pm – BYOB afterwards. We will have coffee\, tea and water available in addition to refreshments. On May 1 we be celebrating May Day with a community BBQ.

DESCRIPTION:The City of Florence Environmental Management Advisory Committee (EMAC) will host\nthe third event in its Speaker Spotlight Series on Wednesday\, August 12\, 2026\, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at\nthe Siuslaw Public Library\, 1460 Ninth St. in Florence\, in the Bromley Room.\nJerin Dinkins\, Food System Specialist from the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ)\, will be\npresenting on “Save Our Food: From Farm to Fork.”\nThis 60‑minute presentation starts with an overview of food systems and an interactive discussion about\nthe importance of sustainable production\, consumption\, and waste management practices. There will be\nreferences to why people should care about food waste and what they can do locally to prevent it. The\ndiscussion will conclude with updates on DEQ’s upcoming grant opportunities and ways to engage during\nFood Waste Prevention Week\, September 28 to October 4\, 2026.\nAttendees will enjoy snacks and refreshments\, have access to additional educational materials\, and\ncan participate in giveaways and raffle drawings. DESCRIPTION:City Club of Florence welcomes Health Care for All Oregon as its August 2026 Guest Speaker. \nHealth Care for All Oregon (HCAO): The Universal Health Care Plan for Oregon \nGuest speakers from HCAO Lane County will update the community on the latest from Oregon’s Universal Health Plan Governance Board and the Lane County Chapter of HCAO. \nLearn more about how Oregon became the first state to officially work on a Universal Health Plan with a deadline to submit the plan to the Oregon Legislature by September 2026. \nThe Universal Health Plan is being drafted to make health care access easier and more affordable than private insurance through a centralized agency\, as well as provide vision and dental\, without the pre-authorizations that private insurance uses to deny and delay care. \nThe City Club is a nonpartisan\, civic discussion group that meets on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 1:30pm in the Bromley Room of the Siuslaw Public Library. Each month features a different guest speaker\, who answers questions from the audience following their presentation. \nCity Club meetings are free and open to the public. Meetings are later broadcast on KXCR-FM 90.7 community radio. The Siuslaw Public Library does not sponsor the City Club or endorse the views of guest speakers.
