DESCRIPTION:Sign up for a Wilderness Ambassador hike with one of our mentors!\n\n\nHike: Harris Ranch Trail\, Siuslaw National Forest \nThis event is for Wilderness Ambassador volunteers who are looking to join a Wilderness Ambassador mentor on a hike. Note: Only Ambassadors who have completed the classroom training and/or attended an intro hike may register for a ticket. \nWilderness Ambassadors are a special type of volunteer. Experts at public engagement and education\, these adventurous folks head out on some of the most beloved wilderness trails on Mt Hood\, in the Columbia River Gorge\, and in the Drift Creek Wilderness to share Leave No Trace principles\, hiking etiquette\, and trail stewardship with trail users. These volunteers also gather data on physical and social trail conditions\, perform some lights stewardship projects\, and help to train new Wilderness Ambassadors as they enter the program. DESCRIPTION:Just ahead of its regular meeting\, PFLAG Florence invites the public to attend the Florence City Council Meeting Monday\, June 10\, at 5:30 p.m. for the Proclamation of Pride Month in Florence. PFLAG will honor one of its founding members\, Ray Feay\, a longtime Florence resident who was instrumental in establishing the PFLAG affiliate in Florence.  \nFollowing the presentation\, attendees are invited to a PFLAG-hosted reception in the Fellowship Hall of Florence United Methodist Church\, 2nd and Kingwood. PFLAG will provide attendees with leis\, signs and Pride Flags for the celebration. Because City Hall and the Methodist Church are within a block of each other\, parking for the city event is available at the church as well. \nPFLAG meetings in Florence\, which are always free and open to the public\, are held on the second Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Florence United Methodist Church\, located at Second and Kingwood Streets\, one block west of Highway 101. \nPFLAG is the nation’s largest organization dedicated to supporting\, educating\, and advocating for LGBTQ+ people and those who love them. DESCRIPTION:The NAMI Connection Recovery Support Group is coming to the Florence community beginning May 9\, 2024. It is a free\, peer-led support group for any adult who has experienced symptoms of a mental health condition. You will gain insight from hearing the challenges and successes of others\, and the groups are led by trained leaders who’ve been there. \nNAMI’s support groups are unique because they follow a structured model to ensure you and others in the group have an opportunity to be heard and to get what you need. No specific medical therapy or treatment is endorsed and everything shared in the group is confidential. \nThis support group is free of cost to participants\, designed for adults (18+) with mental health conditions\, and is led by people with mental health conditions. \nEach meeting is 90 minutes long and meets at 5:30-7 pm on the 2nd Thursday of every month starting May 9\, 2024 at the Laurelwood Homes’ Community Room on 1137 Maple Street in Florence\, OR. Doors will close to the public at 5:45 pm to ensure the privacy of our participants
