DESCRIPTION:The March 4th 2026 regular meeting of the Florence Area Community Coalition features Jacon Taylor\, Development Manager with Saint Vincent dePaul’s HOPE Community Homes\, Oregon’s first non-profit factory-built home manufacturer.  He will explain their innovative contribution to solving our affordable housing crisis. \nLearn how they built Oregon’s first non-profit state-of-the-art 100\,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Eugene. And how since 2024 they have offered factory-built durable and high-quality manufactured homes for low-income Oregon communities and victims of natural disasters. Learn how their ENERGY STAR NEEM+ certification may qualify for energy-saving incentives. \nFACC’s regular monthly meetings start at 10:45 am in the Bromley Room of the Siuslaw Public Library District\, 1460 9th Street in Florence\, and adjourn by noon. Hybrid meetings offer an opportunity to participate with Zoom. DESCRIPTION:On January 22\, 2026\, FACC and Lane County Public Health will host a review and discussion of the recently completed 2024-2025 Community Health Assessment. FACC aims to provide our Western Lane communities with relevant\, useful demographic information. \n1 – 4 pm in the Bromley Room of the Siuslaw Public Library\, FACC and Lane County Public Health will host a Data Party to present and discuss the data underlying the new Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP). \nThis is a major step in a collaborative project to build a Western Lane demographic database that describes our communities\, that helps us understand our problems\, and that aids us in creating solutions.  \nAmong other things\, we wish to provide a public and accessible source of information for those who seek grants and funding. Your participation can help make this a reality! \nThe CHIP data and plan documents are hosted by Live Healthy Lane on their website\, and you are encouraged to download and explore the information before the Data Party. \n \nLive Healthy Lane is a community-based effort to improve the health and well-being of those who live\, learn\, work\, and play in Lane County. \nCreating the conditions for optimal health is the responsibility of everyone in our community. The community work includes the periodic assessment of health issues and needs in Lane County (the Community Health Assessment; CHA) and the development and implementation of the Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP).

He will also discuss Lane County Senior Support Coalition’s Senior Emergency Support Fund.   Working with our local DHS Aging and Disability Resource Connection\, they can provide insurance copayments\, denture or hearing aid repairs\, utility payments to avoid disconnection\, and rent assistence to prevent eviction. \nAll organizations and groups with events are encouraged to attend. DESCRIPTION:The  September 3\, 2025 meeting of the Florence Area Community Coalition will feature City Manager Erin Reynolds and Assistant Manager Megan Messmer who will be speaking about the newly enacted Public Safety Fee. The Public Safety was adopted by the City Council on June 2\, 2025\, as Ordinance No. 6\, Series 2025\, referencing the “growing costs of the resource-intensive public safety services.” The fee\, set at an initial rate of $5 per residential unit and $5 per nonresidential unit on developed properties within the incorporated Florence city limit\, was first included in the City’s August 2025 utility billings. The rate will increase to $15 a month on January 1\, 2026 and to $18 a month on July 1\, 2026.If you have questions or comments for them it is a good time to come. \n

DESCRIPTION:The June 4\, 2025 regular monthly meeting of FACC will feature Riverview Center for Growth and\, more specifically\, its Riverview Crisis Response Program. When our own Western Lane Crisis Response team needs help with youth\, it is Riverview they call. Riverview (formerly known as “The Child Center) is a nonprofit organization with over 50 years of service. It was ranked 5th in the 100 Best Nonprofits to Work For in Oregon in 2024.\nIf you are able to come in person\, you will have the opportunity to meet Julie Williamson\, MA\, Director of Crisis Services\, Elise Gray\, Crisis and ISS Supervisor\, and Jazmin Bird\, Development & Outreach Coordinator. You will learn about their child and adolescent crisis response program\, situations that are considered a “crisis\,” what to expect if you make a crisis call\, who is able or required to consent to treatment\, the extensive array of services they provide\, and how\, if a youth or family is not connected to mental services and is in need\, Intensive Stabilization Services (ISS) are implemented to provide interim support until long-term services can be obtained. Their slideshow presentation will be emailed after the meeting to those who request it\, but if you can come please do as there is no better opportunity to ask questions and learn from the questions that others ask too.\nThe business meeting following the presentation will include election of directors and officers for the 2025-2026 fiscal year and adoption of a budget. DESCRIPTION:FACC’s March 5\, 2025 meeting will feature Kayla Watford\, Community Health Analyst with Lane County Public Health’s Department of Health and Human Services and some of the members of the CAC Rural Advisory Committee (RAC). The RAC partners\, who meet quarterly\, live or work\, or both\, in rural Lane\, Linn and Douglas Counties and would like to share their advice on how to make healthcare better for rural community members. \nCAC stands for Community Advisory Council. The Coordinated Care Organizations (CCOs) in Lane County are PacificSource and Trillium. Every CCO in the state is required to have a Community Advisory Council (CAC). The CAC is made up of community members who are either OHP members\, work in organizations that serve OHP members\, or are members of a local Tribal community. In order to be sure that consumers have a voice in how the CCO serves the community\, CAC reserves 51% of the seats for OHP members. The Lane County CCO Community Advisory Council is a joint CAC for PacificSource and Trillium. \nFor those unable to come to the meeting\, participation is also available with ZOOM\, a link to which will be posted on FACC’s website.

Melisa Andrion\, its Community Outreach & Volunteer Coordinator\, will be here to offer good information about its varied services and programs\, many of which are not income dependent.\nSenior and Disability Services is the designated “Area Agency on Aging” (AAA) for Lane County\, Oregon. As a designated AAA\, their role is to coordinate and offer services that help older adults and people with disabilities live independently in their own homes or the community setting of their choice.\nAmong the programs Senior and Disability Services offers are the Oregon Health Plan\, the Senior Meals Program\, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)\, and Long-Term Care.

DESCRIPTION:The Florence Siuslaw Lions this year celebrated 76 years of service to Florence. On January 8\, 2025 they will be the featured program at Florence Area Community Coalition’s monthly meeting.\nThis long-serving 501(c)(3) organization champions kindness and actively works to improve the lives of people.  They serve at many events throughout the year\, do fundraisers\, and provide sight and hearing services in the community. The Lions Club hosts an annual bass fishing tournament\, they award scholarships to high school students\, do vision screening of grade school students\, collect used eye glasses and hearing aids\, provide service to help address hunger in the community\, and so much more. Lions are actively serving their communities in over 200 countries and geographic areas around the world\, and Florence Siuslaw Lions are looking for individuals right here in Florence who would like to join their team.

DESCRIPTION:Nancy Berge\, whom you will have a chance to meet and talk with at FACC’s Membership meeting next Wednesday\, October 2\, at 10:45 am in the Bromley Room of the Siuslaw Public Library\, introduces her organization and herself: \nThe Arc Lane County is a grassroots advocacy organization\, ensuring people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families have the supports they need to live full lives in the communities in which they live.\nIn addition to advocating to protect the civil rights of people who experience disabilities\, the Arc also provides supports and services to help people live\, work and play in the community.\nThe Arc Lane County:\n     Connects families and individuals who experience disabilities to information\, resources and direct support professionals.\n     Provides children and youth skill building and recreation programs.\n     Teaches job readiness and computer skills to adults and secures employment for adults who want to work in the community.\n     Supports adults in engaging in leisure and recreational programs in their communities.\n     Provides individual advocacy to address education\, employment and personal finance concerns. \nMy program\, Families Connected\, supports parents that have children with developmental disabilities. We also support independent young adults with their needs. Sometimes having another person to talk to who is walking the same journey is what parents need most. Families Connected helps families who are raising a child (birth to 18 years) with a disability. \nFamilias en Conexión is a network of parents who are Spanish-speaking and who are also raising a child with a disability.\nFamilies Connected and Familias en Conexión help:\n     Connect parents with other parents so they feel less alone\n     Provide resources and trainings and fun family events\n     Families value full inclusion and high expectations\n     Create more welcoming and accessible communities for families experiencing disability \n From the mountains to the sandy dunes of the coast\, Families Connected supports families throughout Lane County.
