DESCRIPTION:Learn more about the science and studies of Microplastics and what you can do to reduce your plastic footprint! Come attend the meeting of the City of Florence Environmental Management Advisory Committee (EMAC) on Wednesday\, April 9th at 3 pm to hear Dr. Susanne Brander discuss the latest regarding microplastics in the Pacific Northwest. Dr Brander received a Ph.D. in Toxicology and Pharmacology from UC Davis in 2011. She is an Associate Professor in the College of Agricultural Sciences at Oregon State University and also currently serves as a Senior Scientist for the EHS Action Science Initiative. Her focus is on the occurrence and biological effects of stressors\, such as micro and nanoplastics\, endocrine disrupting compounds\, and other emerging contaminants\, and climate change\, on aquatic and terrestrial organisms.

The Public Arts Committee will be voting on Monday\, December 16\, at 5:30 p.m. at Florence City Hall\, 250 Highway 101\, with some members attending virtually through GoToWebinar. \nPeople may also submit comment up through the Public Arts Committee December 16 meeting in these ways:\n1. Written Testimony: Citizens are encouraged to submit written comments since it allows the public body an opportunity to review and consider the remarks in advance of the public meeting. DESCRIPTION:Just ahead of its regular meeting\, PFLAG Florence invites the public to attend the Florence City Council Meeting Monday\, June 10\, at 5:30 p.m. for the Proclamation of Pride Month in Florence. PFLAG will honor one of its founding members\, Ray Feay\, a longtime Florence resident who was instrumental in establishing the PFLAG affiliate in Florence.  \nFollowing the presentation\, attendees are invited to a PFLAG-hosted reception in the Fellowship Hall of Florence United Methodist Church\, 2nd and Kingwood. PFLAG will provide attendees with leis\, signs and Pride Flags for the celebration. Because City Hall and the Methodist Church are within a block of each other\, parking for the city event is available at the church as well. \nPFLAG meetings in Florence\, which are always free and open to the public\, are held on the second Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Florence United Methodist Church\, located at Second and Kingwood Streets\, one block west of Highway 101. \nPFLAG is the nation’s largest organization dedicated to supporting\, educating\, and advocating for LGBTQ+ people and those who love them.
