Juneteenth is a celebration honoring the day when black slaves were legally free in the United States. With the recent passage of House Bill 2168, Oregon officially
recognizes Juneteenth as a state holiday.”
The event will begin with a rally, followed by picnicking and celebration. Our special guest speaker will be Holli Johnson, newly elected first African -American Director on the LCC School Board . Other speakers will include Florence City Councilor Sally Wantz, Siuslaw School Board Director Maureen Miltenberger, LCC Florence Dean Russ Pierson and Rev Dr Karen Love Baisinger from the Florence United Methodist Church.
Musical entertainment will be provided by local musician and songwriter Sunny Sundstrom . This is a family friendly event and there will be fun activities for the children as well. Bring a chair and a picnic and enjoy the joyous event!
