Siuslaw River Invasive Species Removal

July 21 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am
Free

Join the Siuslaw Watershed Council as we work to remove invasive species at an active environmental restoration site on the banks of the Siuslaw River! Invasive plants like foxglove, scotch broom, and ivy were introduced for ornamental and functional purposes and now threaten our ecosystem through their aggressive propagation and ability to outcompete native plants. But we can make a difference! Removing invasive species can be a simple and rewarding way to help take care of our home.

Registration is required for this free event: to register please see the linked event website. Volunteers will meet at the north end of the Florence Safeway Parking Lot before travelling together to the site, an approximate five-minute drive. Participation in the event will necessitate walking on uneven ground and slopes, stooping, bending, and pulling. Snacks will be provided. Participants are encouraged to bring sunscreen, hats, and a reusable water bottle as the day may be warm. Long sleeves may be advisable for working in brush.
