Not Your Grandmother’s Mosaics! This class will help expand your mixed-media repertoire using layered images, stained glass, beads, glass gems, found objects, and ceramic tile and inclusions, to construct a painterly and expressive art piece with personalized meaning.
We will also explore the history of mosaic imagery, and Anna will be on hand to coach guests on developing personally meaningful designs, as well as ways to best translate them into mosaic format.
Workshop Schedule:
Saturday, 10am-4pm – Introduction to history and to the technique, design and plan of pieces, learning cutting and gluing methods.
Sunday, 10am-3pm – continuing work on gluing pieces, grouting demonstration.
Lunch will be brown-bag, or on your own.
Workshop participants will come away with a completed 12 x 12″ panel, plus grout to finish your piece at home. You will also have the option to also purchase a set of tools to continue work at home, or in SASS’s monthly Mosaic Studio Group meetup.
