Mindful Drawing Group

A weekly practice group focusing on the meditative benefits of drawing and mixed media arts.
Studies in the Creative Arts Therapies have shown that drawing, especially when incorporated as part of a regular meditative practice, can help promote relaxation, mindful presence, beneficial “flow” states, and a sense of well being.
In this weekly practice group, we will learn and share a variety of drawing techniques that are especially good for helping with creating a meditative state. Some areas we have explored, but are not limited to, included:
Neurographic art
Touch drawing
Blind contour drawing
“slow” drawing
Zentangle and Zen Doodling
drawing from still life
Reverse water color pages
adding shading and color to pen and ink drawings
Sessions are facilitated by an experienced artist, and all necessary tools and materials are provided. You are welcome to bring your own favorite materials as desired. No prior experience is necessary for Mindful Drawing sessions, just your sense of curiosity and creativity!
