Florence ORganizes will be sponsoring the 5th Anniversary Women’s March- Ride for Women’s Rights- outdoors at the Florence United Methodist Church on Saturday, January 22nd at 11am. January 22nd is also the 49th anniversary of Roe vs Wade, which means that day in particular will be an important time to honor the history of women-led activism and our fight for reproductive justice.
The event will begin with a rally with speeches from Val Hoyle, Oregon Labor Commissioner, Nin Bebeau, Founder of FOR, Rev Logan Strike McClean, Pastor, Methodist Church, Sally Wantz, Florence City Councilor, and Maggie Baggon, Board Member, KXCR. Professional Singer Maree Beers will share a song before we walk, drive decorated cars, or ride bicycles on a March down Kingwood Street to Bay Street, up Maple Street to 2nd Street to City Hall for a final celebration of women’s rights .
This is a family-friendly and Covid-safe event. We are following Oregon State guidelines for safety, including wearing a mask and keeping social distance. Bring positive messages of solidarity, hope and demands for the protection of women’s rights. For more information go to
